    To ALL Parents

As I stated in an earlier message I contacted my school's coordinator, and offered to help her with the BT program. Well I just want to say it has SOOOO PAID OFF!!!

We are a school of 950 students Pre_k-5, and in last 6 years we had only turned in $861 BTs, last yr was $171.40. Oct submission( collected Feb-Oct) was $65.

We started announciung it on the school news daily, sent home packets(2 weeks after we started announcing) I make 950 ziploc collection bags for the students.

We started all of this on 11/3 and I got an email togay from the coordinator saying "I mailed off 117.00 worth of boxtops yesterday."

That is $117 in 14 days!!

Get involved! Offer your coordinator your help!!

Great job. We have also found that the collection sheets work well. We give our kids a small prize for each sheet they turn in. Our school is only around 400 kids and we mailed $1000 worth of box tops in Oct. I found that giving the homeroom teachers a small bag of prizes that the kids can choose one from works great, instant reward! Hope this helps you.

I hope you all get credit.  I am very discouraged, as my school was falling behind and the boxtops were piling up, so I sent them in last May.  I have still not gotten any credit for them!  I have even faxed a copy of the submission form, but nothing.  It was almost $500  I have since submitted 2 other batches, one for $113 in Aug and another for $202 in early October.  I have only received credit for the $113.  This is even call ing the service line several times, not just the website amount.  I ask myself is it worth the work if we are not receiving anything for it!

I hope you get credit.  The box top coordinator last year fell behind, so I took over, and spent most of the summer clipping and collecting.  I did submit a large order by the October 31 deadline, and I did get proof of mailing.  I will be very discouraged if I don't get credit!  Keep us posted on your efforts.

What Target thing?  My coordinator is very busy with lots of other tasks within PTO and I'm trying to help out.  Any advice on what I can do to raise awareness, interest, response would be SO appreciated!

Someone else mentioned they made collection ziplocs...did you do something special with them?

Someone at our school mentioned restrictions on what the prizes can be...or maybe that was for our school not from the BoxTops program.  I'll have to look into that, but if anyone has any thoughts, I'd appreciate it.

Sorry if I'm asking some obvious questions, but I'm a newbie!  I'll go poke around the site some more.

    TIA!

    RE: To ALL Parents

Our school is 6th & 7th graders, about 600 kids. They had never collected box tops at this school, but I knew the kids were familiar with the program, because they promoted it in the elementary schools. Each student has a "pride" group, maybe your school has it called homeroom or something else. I bought large ziploc bags for each teacher, and then the kids can bring in their tops and put in one bag. They then go to the office in a tote, and I pick up once a week. I am also going to have the student council involved in counting, to promote ownership & responsibility. To get things going, we offered an ice cream party to the pride group who brought the most tops by 10/31 AND had 100% participation. The students get coupons to redeem at the snack window after school if they bring at least 20 or 50 tops.

    RE: To ALL Parents

One of the incentives I read about was the pizza party for the classroom that collects the most box tops in a given period of time.  You may have to foot the bill for the pizza, but it could be worth it and you may even be able to ask a few parents to pitch in a few bucks each so you don't have to do it yourself.  I've mentioned previously that the school I want to send my son to next year (Kindergarten) it appears does not participate in this program.  I'm going to do some investigating and see if I can get them started and that may end up with me being the cooridnator.  One of the things I'm considering, with approval, is using the collection sheets that I've found at the phototoday website.  A new theme each month and the kids can have as many sheets as they think they will complete.  Each month will have a different reward for the classroom that collects the most box tops and a few times throughout the year I would offer individual awards.  Maybe a gift card to a children's place (like Chuck E Cheese or Monkey Joe's, depending on your location).  Maybe your school is having some kind of fun event for the school during the winter months, like a winter carnival or something similar.  Offer the classroom with the most box tops first in line to the event.  The possibilities are endless.
