Box Tops For Education Overview
Easy Ways To Earn Cash For Your School
Cash can be earned for your eligible and enrolled school through the Box Tops for Education program in a variety of ways:
Your Receipt And The Box Tops For Education App
The Box Tops for Education App (the “App”) allows users to earn cash for their designated eligible, enrolled school. Since June 1, 2019, cash can be earned by purchasing products participating in the Program (“BTFE Products”) and scanning your receipts in the App or emailing your digital receipt. You can also earn by connecting your BTFE account to participating retailers (“Connected Accounts”) and making purchases at those retailers. In addition, cash can be earned by participating in periodic Bonus Box Tops opportunities found on the App. Validated earnings are posted to your eligible school’s account in the App. Schools receive a check twice yearly in December and April.
How To Earn Cash For An Eligible School Via The App
Download the App. Download and access the App via your mobile device. Your wireless service carrier's standard charges, data rates and other fees may apply. In addition, downloading, installing, or using certain mobile services may be prohibited or restricted by your carrier, and not all mobile services may work with all carriers or devices. By using the App, you agree that we may communicate with you regarding the App, in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You agree to only use the App on supported mobile devices that you own or control.
Register for an Account. To earn for your school and access the features of the App you must register for an account. Membership is free and limited to one account per email address, per device. If you are currently a registered member of the Box Tops for Education website (www.BoxTopsForEducation.com) (the “Website”), you must use that established log-in information to register for the App. If you are not currently registered, you can register via the App.
Shop. Purchase BTFE Products.
You can submit your receipt to BTFE in the following ways:
a. Scan Your Physical Receipt. Redeem the Box Tops for Education earnings from your purchase by scanning your full receipt in the App within fourteen (14) days of the date of purchase as indicated on the receipt. You may scan a maximum of fifty (50) receipts per day per registered account.
b. Connected Accounts. The Connected Account Program allows you to earn cash for your school without submitting a receipt when you 1) connect participating retailer accounts to your BTFE account in the App, and 2) make digital (or in-store, if available) purchases of BTFE Products in connection with such retailer accounts. Find a list of retailers currently participating in the Connected Account Program in the App and link your retailer account to your BTFE account through the in-app process. Details vary by retailer; go to the retailer’s Connected Account page in the App to learn more.
If you support more than one school within the App, earnings from a Connected Account will go to the school that you have selected in the App at the time of purchase. A retailer account can link to only one BTFE account; a BTFE account can only be linked to one retailer account per participating retailer. By participating in the Connected Accounts Program, you agree that we may access relevant receipt information from your retailer account and process receipt information in order to credit your school with Box Tops. You represent and agree that in connecting your retailer account to your BTFE Account, you are an authorized user of that account and that you have the authority to provide General Mills with access to that account in order to assess potential earnings for your school.
c. E-Receipts and receipts for online purchases (grocery pick-up or delivery). Please visit the App for more details, including participating retailers and other restrictions.
Earning Via Bonus Offers Redeemable On The App
Bonus Offers to earn cash for your eligible, enrolled school are presented in the App from time to time. Bonus Offers are credited directly to your eligible, enrolled school’s account when you participate in the offer as a registered member of Box Tops for Education on the App and follow the specific participation and redemption instructions for the specific offer.
Most Bonus Box Tops are earned or awarded through your participation in various promotional offers, opportunities or programs through the App. Occasionally, they are earned or awarded through online sweepstakes, or email registration, or making applicable purchases in participating retailer loyalty programs. Sometimes a printed code will be provided for your purchase or participation in promotional offers such as these. In such cases, the code must be redeemed via the App to be credited to your school. You must be an enrolled Box Tops for Education member participating via the App and supporting a designated eligible, enrolled school to be able to earn Bonus Box Tops this way.
To qualify for a Bonus Offer the required items must be purchased during the offer period and the purchase must be uploaded to your account, either by the Connected Account program or by scanning your receipt within 14 days of the date of purchase. You may purchase and redeem multiple Bonus Offers on an individual receipt.
Bonus Offers may be subject to additional terms and may be discontinued by General Mills at any time. At any time and in our sole discretion, General Mills may: (i) determine whether or not you are eligible to redeem an Offer; or (ii) determine whether or not you have successfully fulfilled an offer.
The Traditional Clip Program
On March 2, 2023, the traditional Box Tops clip program, whereby you could earn cash for your school by clipping "Box Tops" from the packages of purchased participating products, was terminated.

School eligibility will be determined by General Mills in its sole discretion. General Mills reserves the right to conduct its own research and/or request documentation (including without limitation proof of 501(c)(3) status and tax identification numbers) to verify eligibility for participation in the Box Tops for Education program. General Mills may deny participation in the program for failure to meet any of the verification or eligibility requirements.
Note that by participating in the Box Tops for Education Program, schools grant publicity rights to General Mills to use the school’s earnings information and identifying information, including name and city, in promotional and marketing materials in all forms of media, in perpetuity.

Maximum Annual Earning Amount
Each eligible, enrolled school participating in the Box Tops for Education program may earn up to, but not more than, $20,000 cash per year (beginning on March 2 of every year and running through March 1 of the following year) through all methods of earning.
Each registered user may earn up to, but not more than, a total of $10,000 cash per year (beginning on March 2 of every year) from the purchase of BTFE Products.
Individual promotions may have independent consumer earning limits based on transactions or activities.
Sweepstakes awards or other earnings not based on the purchase of participating products are not included in school or user maximums above.
Program Restrictions And Unacceptable Submissions
Bonus Box Tops codes and receipts for the Box Tops App may be validly used only by the final purchaser of the product. By way of example, if Box Tops or Bonus Box Tops are earned through a purchase of a product that was not part of the final sale of all components of the underlying product to the end purchaser of the product, submission of these Box Tops or Bonus Box Tops is not permitted. In addition, the reproduction, modification, purchase, sale, or trade of Box Tops, Bonus Box Tops, or receipts for the purchase of BTFE Products are not permitted, renders these items invalid, and renders any attempt to submit these items invalid. Moreover, any Box Tops, Bonus Box Tops, or receipts for the purchase of BTFE Products that have been defaced, mutilated, forged, rendered unreadable, or altered in any way are invalid and may not be submitted. UPC symbols are not a substitute for valid Box Tops and may not be submitted. General Mills reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject and to decline payment for (and/or permit other companies whose products participate in the Box Tops for Education Program to reject and to decline payment for) Box Tops, any form of Bonus Box Tops, or receipts for the purchase of BTFE Products in the event that General Mills determines, in its sole discretion, that they are invalid, expired, fraudulent, or otherwise prohibited by these Official Rules, that they are acquired, transferred, or submitted impermissibly, invalidly, fraudulently, or otherwise in a manner not permitted by these Official Rules, or that any aspect of the submission is prohibited. All submissions become the property of General Mills. Schools and/or coordinators are subject to expulsion from the Box Tops for Education program if such school and/or any associated coordinator promotes the sale or purchase of Box Tops, Bonus Box Tops, or receipts for the purchase of BTFE Products, knowingly submits fraudulent Bonus Box Tops or receipts for the purchase of BTFE Products, or otherwise knowingly promotes activity that violates the rules in this paragraph or any other portion of these Rules.
Program Changes
General Mills, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel without obligation, or alter the terms of, the Box Tops for Education program at any time.
Payments To Eligible, Enrolled Schools
To receive payment from Program participation, schools must be enrolled and determined to be active in the Box Tops for Education program. If your designated school is determined to be inactive or ineligible in the Program, any Box Tops, Bonus Box Tops, or earnings from the App submitted or earned on behalf of that school will be deemed invalid. Prior to distribution to schools, all earnings shall remain the sole property of General Mills. You have no property rights or other legal interest in the earnings for any purpose. Checks will be made payable to the designated, active school; however they can be made payable to a school’s parent-teacher organization (along with the school name) if specifically requested by the school upon enrollment. Payments made to schools are not tax-deductible by schools, participants, or purchasers. Payments will be made twice each school year, by December 31st and by April 30th. Each payment will include amounts earned by schools from the App and from any form of Bonus Box Tops. The December payment will reflect the amounts confirmed from March 2nd through the following November 1st, and the April payment will reflect the amounts confirmed from November 2nd through March 1st. Schools that accrue total earnings of less than $20.00 from March 2nd through the following November 1st will not be issued a December payment. Instead, those earnings will carry over and a payment will be issued for the entire school year to those schools in the April payment. Checks will be mailed to the school’s address by the end of the month (December/April). If a school fails to cash any Box Tops for Education program check within 18 months of issuance, then the school shall forfeit its right to receive such payment. Active status in the Box Tops for Education program, and entitlement to any earnings, is conditioned upon the school cashing all earnings checks within 18 months of issuance. General Mills imposes this condition because of the time and cost associated with administering uncashed program payments for extended periods of time. General Mills will not replace checks requested more than 18 months after the original check was issued. Proof of shipment and a valid copy of your online submission form will be required to research any discrepancies or payment disputes.
Earnings Update
General Mills is not liable or responsible in any way for inaccuracies that may be displayed on www.boxtops4education.com or the App relating to earned or pending amounts, whether a result of human or mechanical error or otherwise.
